boudoir photoshoot

Here’s some top tips for a boudoir photoshoot.

Tip one:

The first and most important top tip is to have really perfect fitting lingerie. The correct type of lingerie can help to define your shape. It can enhance and flatter curves both at the same time. You now we all love a multi tasker! From a push up bra to a waist nipping corset lingerie can be your bestie during your boudoir photoshoot. It can give you confidence and help uncover your sassy side that’s just waiting to be captured.

Tip two:

Make sure you drink lots of water in the run up to your shoot and I don’t mean cramming in a shed load a few hours before or you’ll be on the loo for most of the shoot!! If you’ve done all your boudoir prep ( have a look at my other blog here for more info ) you’ll be feeling like a rock star anyway!

Tip three:

Treat yourself to having your hair and makeup done professionally. Rather than doing it yourself let a professional take over. This will give you the chance to chat with your photographer and ask any last minute questions that you might have. The boost that you will get looking into the mirror after they have worked their magic is priceless and worth every penny. This will translate onto your images too.

Tip four:

DO NOT fake tan! It’s the bane of a photographer’s editing. Fake tan is orange and looks that way on camera too. The last thing you want is to look like an umpa lumpa!

Tip five:

Wear loose clothing before your boudoir photoshoot. This will prevent sock and bra marks showing up and spoiling how a different bra or corset looks on an image. Don’t forget marks from jewellery and watches too.

Top tip six:

Bring lots of outfits. You never know you might just go there and wear something that you wouldn’t usually dare. By the end of your shoot (if you’ve chosen the right photographer) you’ll be feeling pretty amazing. The last thing you want to be thinking is I wish I’d brought that with me.

Top tip seven:

Lucky number seven. Let’s hope! Make sure that you’ve chosen your photographer wisely. As with all photography don’t just choose on price as invariably they are cheaper for a reason or there’ll be a catch in the upsell. Do your research and look at previous shoots and testimonials. A boudoir photoshoot is an investment do your homework.

Top Tip eight:

Talk with your photographer. Get them on the phone or meet up for a brew. That way you can see if you gel. It’s really important to make the right choice for you. Ask them questions see if they know their shizzle!

Top tip nine:

Be prepared. Make sure your skin is in the best condition. Make sure you’ve prepped with moisturiser, body scrubs, shaving/waxing. Make sure your nails and toes are manicured and pedicured and your hair is on looking fandango!

Top tip ten:

Enjoy it! The whole time should be a brilliant time experience one that you treasure and even want to repeat! You may even have a giggle!
