Do you need a reason?

Lots of ladies want a boudoir shoot but feel that they almost need an excuse. Feel that they need permission. I think this goes really deep into questioning the female psyche. It might be a lack of strong women in their life. My mum was certainly a go getter who lived by the motto where’s there’s a will there’s a way. I think because she didn’t experience this in her childhood she was determined to raise women who can stand up and be counted. Even so I still leave myself at the bottom of the list. I’m a massive people pleaser to my own detriment and it’s only later in life that I’ve realised I need to look after me too. I think I will always be hesitant when spending money on myself but I’m learning!!

When we hear a woman being forthright and straight to the point it’s shocking to some and comes with a whole heap of judgement but what if we just started being kinder to ourselves and each other. What if we started complimenting instead of criticising. Imagine if we stopped hiding and made ourselves vulnerable. Recently I’ve started to get back to my roots doing photoshoots that are a bit gritty and others that are asking questions of the viewer (can’t wait to share but can’t at the moment as I’ve entered them into a competition) I haven’t waited for permission I pulled my finger out and collaborated with some special females.

So how does this relate to a boudoir shoot?

If half my clients would have waited, not given themselves permission they wouldn’t have fandango images to look back on. No one has regretted their boudoir shoot……NO ONE. Yes most do come to me with a reason, generally doing it for a loved one; an anniversary, birthday or wedding gift. Yet when the whole experience is over they are on such a high that they know deep down they didn’t need an excuse at all. Just permission to get their boudoir shizzle on!! Look in the mirror and practise saying yes.
