How I Shoot Classy Boudoir Photography
Boudoir photography is more than just a set of images; it is an unforgettable experience designed to empower, celebrate, and bring out the best in you. When I approach a boudoir session, it’s with an editorial style and an artistic viewpoint, ensuring each shoot is tailored specifically to the person in front of the camera. No two shoots are the same because no two individuals are the same. My focus is on creating a bespoke experience that highlights you, leaving you with an incredible set of images.

The Editorial Approach
My background is in fashion and rather than traditional poses and staged shots, I take inspiration from editorial photography. Initially we will get the more traditional boudoir shots but then I like to take it further and approach it from a more artistic angle.

A Bespoke Experience
Every session is tailored to the individual. Some clients want something soft and romantic, while others prefer a dramatic and bold aesthetic. Before the shoot, we discuss your vision, what makes you feel confident, and how you want to be captured. This is not about fitting into a standard idea of boudoir photography: it’s about creating a collection of images that reflect you.
Clothing choices play a big role in this. Boudoir does not always mean traditional revealing lingerie. Some clients feel their best in a structured blazer, an oversized knit jumper, a partner’s shirt or even a beautifully draped sheet. The key is choosing outfits that make you feel incredible, whether that is bold and striking or soft and understated.
Artistic Lighting and Composition
Lighting is everything in boudoir photography. I use light to sculpt and highlight, creating depth and dimension that flatters and enhances. Whether using soft natural light streaming through a window or a more dramatic, moody setup, the right lighting transforms an image from simple to striking.
Composition is just as important. I focus on framing and perspective to create dynamic, visually interesting images. Sometimes, that means close up details that highlight the curve of a shoulder or the arch of a back. Other times, it is a wider shot capturing the full impact of movement and expression. The balance between shadow and light, detail and space, ensures that every image has a timeless quality.
A Comfortable and Supportive Atmosphere
Feeling at ease is key to creating beautiful boudoir images. My sessions are relaxed, with plenty of guidance so you never feel unsure about what to do. I want you to feel comfortable, not just physically but in the whole experience itself. This begins with having your hair and makeup done and a good chat before we start.
The Final Result
When the session is over, you will walk away with a collection of images that reflect you at your absolute best. Boudoir photography should be an experience that leaves you feeling uplifted, confident, and truly seen.
If you have ever thought about booking a boudoir session but were unsure if it was for you, know that it is a space for everyone. It is not about how much skin you show, but about celebrating yourself in a way that feels empowering. And I would love to help you create something extraordinary.
